One Month After My First Event: What I Learned and Where I Am Headed
A month ago I hosted my very first event. Honestly, I did not know exactly what to expect going in. Would people show up. Would they care about what I am building. Would it feel like a real community moment, or just another pop up stand.
It turned out to be so much more than I could have hoped for. The space filled up with energy, and way more people came than I imagined. I got the chance to talk to so many of you individually about your style, your stories, and what really matters when it comes to clothing and representation. Those conversations reminded me why I am doing this in the first place, because fashion should be a reflection of identity, not a box to squeeze into.
Standing behind my T shirt stand, I also started noticing patterns in what people gravitated toward. Some loved a floaty, longer silhouette that felt easy and free. Others leaned toward a thicker, boxier cut with more weight and structure. Those two distinct preferences stuck with me. It felt like a small window into the bigger story of how we all want different things from the clothes we wear, and it confirmed that one size, one shape, one fit will never speak to everyone.
That is why the next collection I am working on will build directly on those observations. Expect both. Pieces that float and move with you, and pieces that hit harder with that boxy, structured look. Listening to you all has literally shaped the design process.
And then there were the notes. At the event, people left me handwritten notes about their thoughts, experiences, and what they want to see. When I finally sat down to read through them afterward, I almost cried. They were raw, honest, and so real. It is one thing to dream about creating representational fashion, but it is another to actually hold peopleās words in your hand and feel that connection. It felt like community in action, and it made me even more determined to keep going.
Now, one month later, I am already seeing some of my early ideas become true. The things I suspected people wanted, like real options in fit, real representation, and real care put into design, are exactly what you have been telling me. This is not just about clothes. It is about solving problems together.
So that is what is next. Designs inspired by your notes are coming soon, and I am building collections that reflect you, not just trends or surface level inclusion. I am beyond grateful for everyone who showed up, shared their thoughts, and trusted me with their honesty. This is only the beginning, and I cannot wait to keep creating with you.
Xoxo, Mars
